Service Park Campground, Alabama

November 21, 2024

Don't have time to wade through a verbose dissertation with more pictures than Grandpa's hard drive? Have we got the post for you today!

Our next destination was short and sweet-- a quiet Army Corps of Engineer campground along the Tombigbee River in Alabama, where the only thing to do was watch the barges go by.

Back over the bridge to Mississippi

The drive through Mississippi didn't quite live up to the Natchez Trace Parkway, but much of it was quite pleasant nonetheless

Our mid-trip Walmart shopping had to be abandoned when we were greeted with some hostile architecture. (We found another Walmart about 30 miles further along our route)

Our campsite at Service Park Campground

We were right on the banks of the Tombigbee River

The next day rained morning to night, but we were entertained by the occasional barge

We awoke to a beautiful misty morning the next day

O look, another barge!

Sure hope this one doesn't sink!

Looking down the campground road. Lots of retirees sitting around watching barges made for an uneventful (but pleasant) stay.

Look around at the quiet surroundings

And that's a wrap!
