October will be here soon . . .

Another late and poorly detailed update . . . but at least it will get some photos in here!
We didn't do a good job of documenting the recent work with photos as we went, but we can put something together here. . . .
It also didn't help that I finished the post only to find it gone . . . so this is now take 2 . . . so there may be a bit more sarcasm this time around ;-)
The peninsula for the kitchen is made up of plywood and wood trim with a big US map inset into it with layers and layers of polyurethane covering it all . . . we found out it is really hard to fill in cracks around the map and get everything smooth . . . more sanding . . more layers . . .
We did all the finishing work inside the house to avoid the humidity (which was making the map warp a bit) and so as to avoid bug legs getting finished in . . .

Once it was finished - then into the camper it went with some legs for the corners just to make it a bit more sturdy (you could probably park a car on it at this point). We will have to take it off again to put the new floor in though . . .

Speaking of the floor - there were holes where the tie down anchors were for (to hold down vehicles - this was after all a toy hauler). The holes got filled in with random wood and Great Stuff expanding foam . . boy is that stuff sticky!

We also found out that we really liked the cedar planking once it was finished with Danish oil - so a bunch more locations got covered . . .
Like the area around the future slouch couch area.

The area behind the bench next to the front door.

In the kitchen area where we are putting spice racks, as well as a little chuck next to that on the slide (near the stove).

A catalytic heater was installed under the kitchen cabinets and made to hide away when not in use . .

Cabinets are finally getting covered with doors, both the sliding doors and doors with hinges. The cabinet doors are made from 1x3 pine with 1/4 inch grooves cut into them to hold 1/4 inch plywood and everything is held together with pocket screws (my new favorite fasteners).

Also completed was lots and lots of painting - pretty much everything gets painted from the original slide trim and cabinets to the ceiling and all new cabinets . . .

Starting to look really nice with paint (looking back towards the back)

And finally we leave off with a picture of the floor after a gallon of paint dumped over . . . and that is why we are replacing the floor last ;-)
