Elephant Butte State Park, New Mexico

After the hustle and bustle of Santa Fe and cool weather of our last camp, we moved south to Elephant Butte State Park park near the town of Truth or Consequences. Here the daytime temperatures started out in the low 80's and evenings dipped only down into the 50's. After the first few days, we got some rain and wind, and it turned cooler, but not much below 70 at least.

This was an extremely pleasant location--great views, nice sunsets, excellently maintained, quiet, and good internet! Most of our time was spent relaxing and taking in the amazing surroundings as well as catching up on camper repairs/maintenance, internet stuff (banking, trip planning, research), tasty dinners, making breakfast bread, etc. In fact, aside from heading into Truth or Consequences for one afternoon, we hung out at the camper exclusively. It was really relaxing!

The reservoir had shrunk a lot in the last decade or so (just barely perceptible in the top right of this photo), but the view was still nice.
Several mornings were sunny and pleasant.

On Saturday, we checked out the quirkiness of the town that, as a publicity stunt in 1950, renamed itself after the game show "Truth or Consequences".
Riverbend Hot Springs was a funky little motel with private hot spring pools.

Included in the property was a little RV park.
Interesting choice of décor for a law office. Doesn't exactly exude competence and trustworthiness, though.

On our way back to camp, we stopped by the more filled portion of Elephant Butte Reservoir.
The sunset was gorgeous!
We were treated to awesome sunsets almost every evening.
