Cataldo, Idaho

After spending several weeks in Washington, it was time to find us a new state. Idaho handily obliged, and we settled into an RV park amidst the haze that was patiently awaiting our return.

Northeastern Washington

Crossing the Columbia River (again after several weeks)

Some serious haziness here

Lake Coeur d'Alene
We were not expecting jaw dropping scenery at this destination (it was an RV park after all), but it was nicely situated along the shores of the pretty Coeur d'Alene River. The RV park owner was kind enough to offer that we back right up to the river (away from the rest of the RVs) when he heard we had a back deck. And that is just what we did.

We're way down at the end, "away" from everyone

Quite a nice view off our deck
On Sunday the park really emptied out and we had this end all to ourselves (look around)!

The Coeur d'Alene River

A stunning sunset that night off our deck

The main draw for this campground was certainly not its location a stone's throw from the noisy interstate (which it practically was), but rather its proximity to the Coeur d'Alene bike trail, a rails-to-trails scenic path spanning the entire northern Idaho panhandle. Unfortunately, the weather report promised likely rain for all the days we were scheduled to be here. So we just played it by ear.
The next morning, the forecast showed that the rain was pushed back until the afternoon, so we decided to do about 10 miles of the Coeur d'Alene trail to Kellogg and back before lunch (25 miles total).

Someone had decorated some of the trees for Christmas

Even on a hazy cloudy day, the Coeur d'Alene River was quite photogenic

We saw lots of "No Trespassing" signs and lots of random RVs parked all sorts of places along the trail

That's some mixed messaging there
In the afternoon (thinking it would rain any minute), we stayed indoors to get some blog writing done (as frustrating as it was with our sketchy "now you see me, now you don't" internet connection). As it turned out, we never did get any rain that afternoon.
Sunday and Monday brought on and off sprinkles, and we spent the time puttering around and getting some laundry and grocery shopping done.
And that's all folks--a pretty low-key destination this week.
